Our prediction engine uses a multi-layer approach: data is collected from multiple sources, dozens of features are extracted (team records, Elo ratings, injury impact, etc.), and an ensemble of machine learning models produces a prediction. Each pick is then graded by a conviction router that evaluates seven different dimensions.

Every prediction is assigned a confidence tier based on a composite score from 0-100:

• LOCK (88+) — Highest confidence. Multiple signals strongly align.
• STRONG (75-87) — High confidence. Solid edge detected.
• LEAN (57-74) — Moderate confidence. Edge exists but more uncertainty.
• PASS (<57) — Low confidence. Too close to call or insufficient data.

No prediction model is perfect — sports are inherently unpredictable. Our model performs best on higher-tier picks (LOCK and STRONG), where multiple signals align. We recommend treating all predictions as one data point among many, not as guarantees.

Predictions are generated automatically as games are loaded for the day, typically several hours before the first game. They update as new data (injuries, line movements) becomes available.

Live scores update every 5 seconds during active games via a real-time WebSocket connection. You'll see live clocks, period indicators, and score changes without needing to refresh the page.
